My son and I went to see his friend, and my trainee graduate from the Air Force basic training. We stayed at the Four Points Sheraton, excellent stay. The riverwalk was fun and the Alamo way beautiful. We contacted an OSU alumni association, which met at the Champps Americana for the OSU vs Navy game. (great game, really setting up USC). Also went to a WNBA game Stars vs LA Sparks, good game. San Antonio has alot to offer for a weekend getaway.... More

Wow!!! Wonderfu; exciting/relaxing time in San Anatone...Agree with ELLKID? about jazz scene, on Riverwalk. Great. Also 3 musums, great restaurants, and overall non tourists scenes in spite of 100 degree daily temps were fun and inspiring. There's a constant breeze, though very warm, and natives were explaining as they are wont to do, weather was not ordonary for that time of year. No rain, temperatures that sap human strength and the economy didn't deter us from seeking places to enjoy. T... More

No rain, temperatures that sap human strength and the economy didn't deter us from seeking places to enjoy. Though I went there to provide suppoort for the surgery on my 17 month old great grandaughter, I found time to enjoy San Antonio (even Childrens Hospital) and to do things I will remember long fter my return to Boca Raton. 5.Jazz scene in San Antonio

San Antonio's jazz scene is very increasing. There's Jim Cullum's Landing of course for historic jazz but numerous other clubs offer really cutting edge top-line musicians. My favorites include singer/songwriter/pianist Bett Butler and bassist/composer Joel Dilley (coincidentally married to each other). You'll remember Bett from her many years playing at Dick's on the river but she's gone full-time into jazz and blues now and even won first prize in the Jazz Category in the International Song... More
