San Pedro on Ambergris Cay is a happening place after you spend some time thereand learn your way around. It is easy to reach by plane or boat from Belize City and well worth the trip. This area is develping rapidly and reminds me of Key West, FL about 15 years ago. It has a lot of Beach and Island room to grow.
