This was my first visit there and I cant believe this place isn't more famous. It has everything a traveler can possibly want. Great beaches beautiful architecture interesting people and the cuisine may be the finest in the western world. Even though I drove there from a stay in Bordeaux I was totally impressed with the quality of the food in San Sebastian. This was my first visit there and I cant believe this place isn't more famous. It has everything a traveler can possibly want. Great beaches beautiful architecture interesting people and the cuisine may be the finest in the western world. Even though I drove there from a stay in Bordeaux I was totally impressed with the quality of the food in San Sebastian. I have been to quite a few Michelin rated restaurants in my time so I am no (pardon the pun) ham and egger. You just walk through the old section and its like one long buffet line except unlike a buffet line here there is good food. I cant wait to go back.

My partner and I just came back from celebrating our 10th anniversary with 100 friends and family ( whow came from the USA Greece Italy France UK) and they also fell in love with the beauty of the city the kindness and hospitality of their people and most of all with the FOOD! We are in the food/restaurant business and travel and eat in the best places in the world but there is something magical about the food in San Sebastian. We had a fantastic time exploring the Spanish gastronomies in San Sebastian. Stay a couple nights to try the Michelin rated restaurants - San Sebastian has more per capita than anywhere in the world. We went to Akelare and Arzak - with Arzak being the most memorable experience. We had a fantastic time exploring the Spanish gastronomies in San Sebastian. Stay a couple nights to try the Michelin rated restaurants - San Sebastian has more per capita than anywhere in the world. We went to Akelare and Arzak - with Arzak being the most memorable experience. Beyond the Michelin rated restaurants you can find fantastic small pintxos (Basque for tapas) bars all over the city!We stayed at the Hotel Maria Cristina which is perfectly situated in the heart of the city and within walking distance to food shopping and the beach. San Sebastian is a very walkable city and a stroll on the promenade La Concha is a great way to get a feel for the city as well as enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean. There's also lots of paths to hike to get better vistas. They have lots of events going on in the summertime and when we went there were a regatta which was a great way to get a feel for the local flavor. Also go to the beaches for a truly Basque experience. The culture in San Sebastian is different from any other part of Spain!
