1.A DIFFERENT CITY

We lived in Santa Monica for over 15 years. Raised our family there. Back in 1970 it had the amenities of a small town. Great climate. Excellent health care facilities. And, generally, the feeling of solid middle class America. Since then it has become very upscale. Traffic and parking difficult. Small businesses have been replaced by high rise enterprise. But, the natural surroundings, Palisades Park, beaches, and climate are unchanged. Still a good place to visit.... More

4.Santa Monica is not the same town I grew up in.

Santa Monica was a great city back when I was a kid growing up there. After living there for 50+ years I left for a more rural central California city. The 3rd St. Promenade is great, the pier is great, but the homeless problem is very serious issue. This in part was caused by the city's bleeding heart liberal government. You don't see it in Malibu. If you are a tourist and don't mind stepping over a transient or two, it's a great place to visit.... More
