I have traveled all over the world but never have I come across a place like Santander Spain. I spent six weeks there from the end of May until the beginning of July and that was truly that best trip I have ever been on. The people are simply incredible; I have never been a tourist in a city where the locals are so friendly. Upon arriving in Santander my Spanish was barely worthy of being called Spanish but by the time I left Santander six weeks later I was able to hold a conversation without thinking twice. The city is easily manuevered by walking but the bus system is also super easy and super reliable. In my six week there I only took the bus two times but both times I made it to my destination on time and without any issues. The beaches are gorgeous and even if you don't want to actually go and lay on the beach there are plenty of activities to do surrounding the beaches that will let you enjoy the serenity and the beauty the beaches present. Day time for me was filled with shopping amazing food an even more amazing two hour siesta and then getting ready for the awesome night life Santander has to offer. The bars are all within walking distance from one another and when it comes time to leave the bars at anywhere between 3 am and 7 am when they close down I never thought twice about walking home. I cannot say enough positive things about Santander. I've said since I left there that I will visit there again and that if I found a way I would live there! Oh and about the cows yes I saw them but they in no way were all over the city or walking across the city streets. Maybe up in the mountains but I know from the beach up to Av de los Castros there were no cows taking a stroll through the city streets.
