We have just moved here from the great Northeast and love it !
It is just a beautiful city with more charm in one block than you can imagine.
It is European in its feel and continues to become more so.
Often,a vacation is that "hurry up" to see things.
Savannah wants you to go slow,relax,take it in, just sit,and then get lost in her squares.
Then you'll need to come back!
The Savannah Film Festival and ,currently,The Music Festival are reason enough to come;they have been spectacular.
Sure,there are other fine Southern cities, but none call you back like the mystery of this lady.

Visited Savannah in September,stayed with a native "Savannian"...did Tybee and all the usual spots...loved Churchills,but I am british so I would! Loved the city so much would consider retiring there...one reviewer said that it is teeming with violent crime?...gang rapes..Etc...my friend who is born and bred has had no such experiences...anyone else have any horror stories or was the reviewer just exagerrating...? Did the whole tourist thing, trolley tours...Tybee, Crab Shack (wear Mozzie repellent..I was bitten to pieces). Truly loved the Bohiemian atmosphere and am desperate to return. Live in South Africa at present (originallyfrom the Uk..) .and with all our problems here with crime,poverty... etc...could see Savannah as a great place to end my days...unless somebody knows differently...?

No place like it on earth. Everything you need from a big city without being in one. Easy to feel like you fit in, feel like people care about you. Amazing scenery, whether you be interested in forest or ocean wildlife, historical landmarks, or just a sunset. Everyday is a beautiful day. My life has taken me many places but Savannah with its kind people and strong connection to natural beauty will always bring me back.

Savannah's main stip as well as most of tybee island is great. It is a college town, so the amount of belligerent students running around and trying to steal your daughters and showing your son a good time is something to either count a blessing or a burden.
Unfortunately, Savannah has a drug, poverty, and violence problem that has skyrocketed and makes Hunt's Point in the South Bronx look like a social affair. Savannah is a very dangerous place for tourists with no clue where they're at. There all gang beatings, rapes, and murders all over the city and if you walk down the wrong street.....You're screwed. I lived in savannah for a long time and I've seen my fair share of problems. The city is far from great, but certainly a place to check out.
Check out the battle of forsythe organized by Dan Cucena and Alex Davis, two SCAD students. It happens four times a year. Over 1000 people join in with plastic and styrofoam weapons and armor....A spectacle! Check it out on youtube.
Forsythe park is also rated one of the best places to be according to high times.
Easy to get into trouble ask the tybee police force.
You can DRINK IN PUBLIC!!!!!!
