Savannah is one of the country's top ten cities for walking tours, and is home to more than 1,000 restored historic buildings. There are many free things to do in the city, including walking through the historic district, the Telfair Museum of Art, and visiting the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.

The downtown heart of Savannah is called the Historic District. Georgia's founder, General James Oglethorpe, planned the city to be laid out in a perfect grid.
