Scottsdale Scottsdale, named after Major Winfield Scott, was founded on February 26, 1910. The city since then has preserved its Western roots while becoming one of the fastest growing cities in Arizona. Visitors come from around the world for a glimpse of Western memorabilia combined with elegant dining, hotels and shopping. The city is now divided into three distinct parts.
