I have lived here all my life and Shreveport is what you make it. For one the crime rate might be high but the amount of random crime is very low. I feel safe walking into any part of town knowing that trouble will only find me if I am looking for it. In other words if you get mixed up with drugs and gangs you will get shoot but if you stay away from it then all you see of it is on the news. I have lived here all my life and Shreveport is what you make it. For one the crime rate might be high but the amount of random crime is very low. I feel safe walking into any part of town knowing that trouble will only find me if I am looking for it. In other words if you get mixed up with drugs and gangs you will get shoot but if you stay away from it then all you see of it is on the news. As far a night life there is not much of one but it is there you just got to know where to look. Yes it is a pretty concerative Baptist town but if that doesnt fit who you are there are plenty of liberal organizations and things for the non religious. The schools are good with the exceptions of the ones in the really poor areas but that is expected every where. It is a pretty family friendly town and there is pretty much always some major event going on like mardi gras the revel and mudbug madness and etc. It is a clean town now it is right next to Bossier city and there is a big difference in the towns I personaly feel like bossier is dirty but combined the both make a nice place to live. Yes big cities are more fun also dirtier and yes there are more open minded liberal towns but Shreveport beets most other towns its size and defently smaller towns it is ust the rigt size and is on the way up where as some towns are falling apart like major cities such as Dallas New York Huston New Orleans Baton Rouge and so on. And think about it if Shreveport doesnt have what you want and Dallas and New Orleans do but yu dont want to live there shreveport is 2-3 hours from Dallas and 4-5 from New Orleans and that is not bad.

2.Shreveport is not what we called it

We lived there for 3 and one half years; and I hated every minute of it. It is humid hotoppressive backward and acts like a much smaller city. The only wildlife we had were field rats and the cockroaches who partied in everything from the junk drawer in the kitchen to my ventahood. (One fell into my cooking pot.) They flew out of kleenex boxes drawers covered the cat's food dish at night in the kitchen. They are all over the place outside. We finally got rid of them when we treated our house for... More

We finally got rid of them when we treated our house for termites as a precaution. It had to be something that is illegal now; but the roaches didn't like it. There are pockets everywhere with all economic situations. No planning the driving test was a joke flooding every time there was a storm. About dusk on Friday and Saturday nights; you could drive down the street where people started drinking and staggering down the sidewalks. I revisited Shreveport and few years ago; and it is still a dump. When we left I told my husband I didn't want to even fly over LA again. Personally I think they should take the whole state fence it in and turn it into a penal colony.

3.I love Shreveport

If you hate Shreveport and think it's dirty you should save your money and move to a better neighborhood or just move. I was born and raised there and I love it. And it's very clean where I lived and where my parents still live. There's something for all ages. But it isn't a huge city if you want that big city life....MOVE but don't bash Shreveport! It's what you make it!... More
