Sosua, Dominican Republic Reviews and Ratings

Dominican Republic is beautiful.I have been to the Dominican several times. Sosua is a nice quiet beach town. The beach is in a beautiful cove. There are mountains you can see from the beach. It is lined with palm trees and small shops. The town and beach have tourists walking around everywhere. During the summer the beaches are mostly empty. Most of the people I meet there are from Europe and North America. There are lots of different types of European restaurants. When you are out it's normal to hear the people around you speaking a dozen different languages. It seems that everyone speaks some english. It's a very safe and friendly place. You can rent a house or condo close to the beach for very little money. I reccomend visiting 27 falls. It's only about 1 hour from the beach You can climb the falls and jump or slide back down them. The snorkeling trip in Punta Russia is about 1.5 hours away. They take you out to a small patch of sand atop a coral reef about a mile off the coast. Both of these places are unlike anything you have ever seen. By day this is a sleepy little village. At night the discos and casinos come alive. There are people out dancing and having fun everywhere. As in most of the Carribean. The culture is quite different than in America. All the locals will want to talk to you. They will leave if you tell them to but you will have to tell them. The Dominican is a different type of vacation. It is a very poor country but the people are very friendly. They seem to love Americans. This is a great place for a family vacation. If you are single it is heaven.
