Located at the final site of Japanese occupation on Guam, this war memorial was created through the donations of Japanese people. It commemorates the lives of more than 500,000 people who were lost to this war and doubles as a headstone for some of the last Japanese casualties in Guam. The 50-foot white statue points toward the sky in an abstraction of hands held in prayer. It is nine miles north of Agana central on Route One. The site also holds a Buddhist temple that includes a war museum exhibit. There is no admission charge.
