1.Nice for South Padre

We stayed other places on the island and would always end up at the quarter deck bar untill this last time we stayed at the radisson and each room is owned by different people so some of the rooms were very nice and up to date and some were from the early 70s. Also the old house band has built a new club infront of the hotel and that is the place to party now. it does have a great location. ... More

2.Great Location, needs refurbishing

Location can't be beat...it's right on the water with wonderful views and great beach access. However, this hotel is in dire need of refurbishing! My family (myself, daughter, son-in-law, and 2 grandchildren ages 11 and 12) stayed in one of the penthouses. Some items needed to be repaired and for the money, I felt the decor was very dated and tired. The pool was not clean and the water was too warm which might have been due to the hot weather. Location can't be beat...it's right on the water with wonderful views and great beach access. However, this hotel is in dire need of refurbishing! My family (myself, daughter, son-in-law, and 2 grandchildren ages 11 and 12) stayed in one of the penthouses. Some items needed to be repaired and for the money, I felt the decor was very dated and tired. The pool was not clean and the water was too warm which might have been due to the hot weather. The reception staff did not clue us in as to how the rooms were numbered, for instance room 4907 is not on the 4th floor, it is on the 9th. After several "ups and down's" in the elevator, we finally figured it out. But hey...don't mess with Texas! We ordered room service and the description of the items we ordered bore little or no resemblance to what we received. All in all...too expensive for a run down hotel but the kids loved it.
