it IS a dangerous placeI have lived in st. Thomas and St. John for nearly 2 years and I am amazed by the "osterich mentality" that I read. "See no evil hear no evil" The truth is that the evil mentality is absolutely stunning in the "American paradise" The largely inbread population filled with drugs crime alcholism and hatred does not bring any good news. The criminals are too often related to local police judges and I have seen many incidents where they walked totally free after comitting horrific crimes against main land whites. My neighbors were raped ( mother daughter and grand mother right in the middle of Charlotte Amalie in day time cheered by local thugs.. Whites has been thrown in jail accused for crimes only because their skin color I have seen whites being refused to enter the ferry to st. John as they had to wait until all local blacks were onboard...It is next to impossible to terminate a local worker even if he comitt severe wrong doings.... I can go on and on and on. The best words for what I have seen is DISGUST. It seems like USVI has 2 kinds of white people. The ones that have their departure day set and those that wish they had their day coming soon when they can leave this crime ridden dump in the Caribbean. Standing up for whats right and wrong speaking up against unjustness is unthinkable in this part of the world. Silence is still the best self protection as long you live there. Never again !!!

I have been traveling to St Thomas for over twenty years. I have never had a bad experience in any of my many trips. the island is beautiful sights are great food delicious and so much blue water and sunshine. Nothing but relaxation and fun. Will be returning in Feb. and again in July.

I waited for months for our trip to St.Thomas. At first it seemed like paradise!! But after renting a jeep and trying to drive the ridiculously unsafe roads and having people running you off the road and screaming at you...I was ready to come home!! If it rained you dare not get on those horrible roads. The only place worth visiting (for us) was Coki beach...but it is no place for kids to be....chicken fights...drugs...the beach waiter was scarey mean and you have to watch your stuff at all times!!!!! The snorkeling was great however. My friends were taking pictures while her husband was driving and they had a truck driver run them off the road and threatned to kill them if they took another picture of him!! They were terrified!! They are just plain mean and rude to americans...for them to be U.S. Virgin Islands!!! WILL NEVER GO BACK!!
