Shakespeare's Birthplace or a big tourist trap 
I was all excited to go to Stratford-upon-Avon.  I am an actor and thought seeing it would push my love of the bard over the edge.  I was sorely mistaken.  It is a giant tourist trap.  The house isnt even his actual house.  It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't bill it at Shakespeares home.  Its not!  It was a set up for a big disappointment.  But the town itself is quite lovely and the people were terrific.  So if you are going to see the town and the architecture then it is a lovely place.  If you want to get some theatre history go to the West End of London.
