the new democracyBeautiful city in the mountains river running dramatically through it... steeped in history ... beautiful people who love America and Americans... marketplaces are colorful and wonderful churches are breathtaking the old ones and the new as well.... if you can go at Easter and climb to the church on the mountain where all Tbilisi goes for the long easter eve service... amazing... the country is still struggling and in transition as one of the world's newest democracie... some wonderful new businesses have opened up since the grey days of the Soviet era some of them backed by or owned by Americans and British book store cafes and such... down side is that the country is being overrun by American and Brittish and other big foreign money those out to make a quick buck and not concerned about the welfare of the people or what the land is being used for.... "business centers" and heliports and other ostentasia... Right outside you'll share the road with goats and sheep and shepherds smoking Marlboros and making calls on their cell phones... Go now before its beauty is gobbled up. When you get home write your senators and congressmen demanding that this little democracy be welcomed into NATO.
