Tripoli, Libya Reviews and Ratings

I was in Libya from January 1957 to October 1958. I was working for a USA company that was putting in a new telephone system for the company and installing a new Radio station-Radio Libya. This was a foreign aid project of the US government to combat radio Cario which was trying to overthrow the Libyan Government.. I was in charge of the outside work and as a result covered the entire country from the Tunnisian boarder to the Egytian border. I had tremendous experiences and saw all the great roman/Greek ruins in the country. I had to work with a mine crew the entire time because of the tremedous mine fileds both marked and unmarked out in the field. I had several peopl ehurt by mines but no one was killed. Out in the field at the watering holes it was if time had stopped 2000 years ago.I could spend hours and hours and pages and pages of my many experiences there. Some were unbelieable. I was luck Wheelus Air Base was there as I got hepatitis and spent 6 weeks in their very nice hospital. My favorite place was Cyrene whcih is one of the best Greek ruins in the entire world. Me and my crew camped in the ruins in tents. Another very interesting place was the Cemetary at Toubruck to see all the nations involved and the very young age of the soldiers killed there. Some of the biggest tank battles of al ltime were fought there and the burned out hulks of tanks were stil there.
