Even though its congested traffic, crazy drivers and people; Lala land is great!
All the beacvhes: Venice, Marina Del Rey, Manhattan, Redondo etc. are beautiful! The Magic Castle is sooo interesting and fun. The Getty is beautiful with wonderful art work. The Reagon Museum is worth the ride! could go on and on! Most N..Y'ers will love It.... More

I am back from LA. Man is it huge!
Loved the Grove! Wasnt impressed with the Getty museum, too far from city to see anything. The garden was too small and not much there.
Crystal Cathedral was interesting. Saw Robert Schuller's sermon. Proves yet once again religion is a big money maker for these people.

Santa Monica beach, 3rd st. promenade was good. Venice beach was far out! Olvera street I could live without. Hollywood, well not much there besides the stars and handprints on the ground. Too many clowns walking around.
Beverly Hills and Rodeo dr. were cool. Mulholland dr. was much too dangerous to bother driving on ever again, not much to see from it anyway.
Took a bus ride around town. LA is mostly like any other big city. Comparable more to Philly than NYC.
Loved San Diego! Coronado rocks! What a great hotel! I am surprised anyone could go inside and walk around. The water was too salty. Old Town was cool. Seaport Village shopping mall was cool.
What I disliked about both LA and SD is all the pseudo-Mexican shops, bars, cafes, eateries, etc. And what's with all the skulls everywhere? Is there any significance to skulls on the West coast, as we do have mucho Mexicans in NYC, but no skulls anywhere.
Listen amigos: if I want to see Mexican culture or eat Mexican, I will go to Mexico!
Conclusion: keep Mexican culture in Mexico and just show me L.A. man.

Started a 10 day CA trip in LA - thankfully staying in Manhatten Beach. Wanted to see some Intl Surf Festival contests but saw nothing because schedules were wrong (Chamber of Commerce no help). Visited Hollywood, drove on Mullholland (cool), went to Santa Barbara, Long Beach (Queen Mary interesting and LB pier wonderful) and Huntington - all very nice (Venice Beach is yuk). After 4 days we went N to Morro Bay (must see) and then up Hwy. 1 all the way to San Fran - BEAUTIFUL drive - loved it. Muir Woods for redwood viewing is ridiculously crowded - couldnt find a spot to park even a mile from the lot. . Went back S toward Santa Cruz into Felton and saw redwoods there -wonderful. San Fran was great... LA not so much.
