You might want to also try Clermont on highway 50 (a quaint little scenic town)which though is a little further off the beaten path and is as of now still mainly undiscovered. But it is beautiful green and hilly (dont forget to do a little wine sipping at Lakeridge Winery). It and Sugarloaf Mountain are wonderful taste of central best kept Florida Secrets.... More

Fl for vacation?I used to live in Maitland Fl. Altamonte Springs is hardly different than Casselberry or Orlando except the color of the the street signs change. If you are going for theme parks don't stay in Altamonte Springs it's too far north of Disney the traffic is terrible during rush hour (morning trying to get to theme parks). Or evenings trying to get back to Altamonte Springs before 9 pm. ... More

It has everything you \need\ at a reasonable price. If you're into the true DISNEY EXPERIENCE (and price tag) stay on site. If you're past that and are looking for a place to sleep familiar restaurants and easy access to the Interstate then go to Altamonte Springs. I remember going there numerous times as a kid growing up in FL. It's not where the tourists stay...it's where the Floridians stay because they know better than to pay Disney type prices for a hotel room you'll spend 8 hours sleep... More
