Fort Myers

As a desirable vacation destination, Fort Myers and its neighboring cities attract thousands of visitors annually. Much remains as it was hundreds of years ago, serene and unspoiled. Mangrove forests, saltwater wetlands, wildlife refuges, tropical gardens, nature trails, miles of winding canals and waterways, and hundreds of islands, some inhabited, some not, provide a magical retreat from the fast-paced world.

Fort Myers

Located on the southern bank of the Caloosahatchee River and known as the “City of Palms”, Fort Myers is rich in history, Civil War settlement, and Seminole Indian legacies. The wide Caloosahatchee River diagonally divides the city from Cape Coral to the west, and North Fort Myers just across the Edison Bridge.

You'll never be bored here. Cultural attractions like the Imaginarium and the Arcade Theatre mix with beach activities. The annual Edison Festival of Light unites everyone in the city for a citywide celebration. Fort Myers is also the winter home of the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins.

From June 2nd to June 9th, I finally took a vacation to---yes, my screenname means it---Fort Myers, Florida. I rented a nice shiny tricycle and rode around pretty much everywhere. I met a lot of friendly locals who were sociable, some were quite sweet to me. I also checked out a few cool places like Edison Mall and the Ricochet club.

This Ft. Myers Beach review is GREAT!!! For those of you who have been and think I'm crazy read on. Please don't correct anything written here - please. It is obvious to me that the person who wrote this was lost or misguided or maybe just a dweeb by that's OK. Why? Because those of us who frequent FMB to get away from whiney east coast types and screaming kids have spent years in finding those haunts at FMB and would hate for the secret to be given away! We know where the fresh grilled shrimp and ice cold beers are cheap and where the live music is great the crowds minimal and the service is good. Where the beach front rooms are reasonable the beach front pool and bar is terrific and where the locals hang - that's relaxing! So keep up the travelogues with amatures - you're forgiven and in fact just ask me - I can send them places that will keep them off track and busy for hours! Cheers!
