I can recommend Candlewood Suites on Belfort Road. The suites includes a kitchen and the hotel has a 24-hour convenience store on an honor system. Bed was very comfy, everything very clean and new, and the staff was friendly and helpful with a special request from us. Hotel is not downtown, but does have easy acces right off I-95.... More

I've been to Jacksonville several times and found a new gem of a place this trip. My daughter (in her 20's) and I went to the Avondale neighborhood and had a pleasant afternoon shopping in boutiques and galleries. It is not a large shopping area, but charming with unique shops. The neighborhood has older, distinguished homes and is along the river. We also had an excellent meal at the Brick Restaurant - - a place that is a good choice for both vegatarians and omnivores!... I stayed overnight in Jacksonville at the Crown Plaza on the River. I had a River Front room and it had a great view. I had room service which was prompt and very good. The room itself was beautiful but a little on the small side. The hotel had a beautiful pool, which we enjoyed. I would stay at the Crown Plaza again.... More
