Atlanta

Atlanta is a city rich with history and culture, and is known as the “city not too busy to care.” It is often pointed to as an example of successful urban development and growth. Evidence of this can be seen everywhere from the skyscrapers that fill downtown to the many prosperous restaurants, shops and businesses spread throughout the city.

Downtown

As in many cities, Atlanta's downtown serves as the center of business and government. It is not, however, the hub of the social or cultural scene, and other than fine dining or professional sports events, it pretty much shuts down after business hours.

The ever-changing skyline is dominated by sky-high hotels and office buildings. There is perhaps none more impressive than the Peachtree Center, which serves the business community in both capacities. Most major chain hotels are represented here, as well as many of the world's most well known corporations, such as the world headquarters of Coca-Cola. The Georgia World Congress Center plays host to a never-ending string of trade shows, while in the southern corner of downtown you'll find... more

Thrifty Car Rental

My rental car from Thrifty was a nightmare. I had the following problems with the car: 1) the interior smelled horrible due to wet carpet (which ruined my niece's new Coach purse), 2) the car shook pretty bad when the brakes were applied, 3) a random alarm sounded periodically, 4) the left rear turn signal / brake light was blown (which I was pulled over for). I reported the problem about half way thru my trip, Thrifty asked me to return the car, but I was an hour away. At the end of my trip... More

I reported the problem about half way thru my trip, Thrifty asked me to return the car, but I was an hour away. At the end of my trip when I returned the car, again I reported the problems & was given a 10% off coupon for my next rental. 10% for my next rental??? I learned from the Thrifty website that I could have saved 10% by using my AMEX card... I would not recommend Thrifty due to poor customer service & poor upkeep on the cars.

We just stayed at the JW Marriott in Buckhead in Atlanta over the holidays. What a beautiful hotel! The staff was very attentive and the area is great. Convenientely located near shopping and freeway access. The hotel had a fantastic workout room and the bar and restaurant were good also. Would definitely recommend staying here!... More

Thrifty car rental is at some remote, distant location in a temporary trailer. Service is very slow. To return, you need to NOT go to the main car rental place but they don't tell you that - it is on the paperwork that they give you but should also tell you. Would not recommend until they are where all the other rental companies are.... More
