Arrive in Stewart Int. Airport..unless you don't want to spend the few extra bucks for convenience fly into Albany...avoid the metro area if possible. From Stewart...sail aboard the "Pride of the Hudson" out of Newburgh NY and get a narrated tour of the most beautiful part of the Hudson River including historic sights like Washington Hdqtrs Bannerman's Island and West Point. Return and eat at Cafe Macchiotos on Liberty street across from Wash. Hdqrts. (a local favorite) History buffs should visit the New Windsor Cantonment (now the sight of the Purple Heart monument) or Knox headqrts. Take the Ferry across the river to Beacon where you can catch a train into Grand Central and all points Manhattan for the day but be sure to return to Beacon in time to catch a sunset cooperative sail aboard the "Woody Guthry" Pete Seger's donated sail boat to the Beacon Sloop club....Free with donation suggested. (and bring a snack to share)..also the is the DIA museum for Art enthusiasts or Follow the winery trail from Newburgh leading to New Paltz..a must see for geological beauty including rock climbing and a visit to the Mohonk Mt. House is necessary for golfing luncheon lodging and hiking...especially during the fall season. Consider the Newburgh waterfront boardwalk for a special meal and an indie movie or old classic at the Downing Movie Festival theatre. Or go North to Bethel and Woodstock..great music festivals and a hippie museum that is not to be missed...then stop by Monticello Race Track for some horse betting and slot machines. SO MUCH TO DO!!
