Philadelphia

The first thing visitors discover about Philadelphia is that it's a walking town. You'll find most places are within a mile of City Hall. Stroll on pleasant, tree-lined streets that display a rich mix of architecture ranging from Colonial to Victorian to Bauhaus, sometimes all presented within the same block. Each street connects to smaller and smaller streets and alleyways that hide small groups of houses, clever gardens, footnotes to American history and good coffee spots to take a rest. Downtown Philadelphia is referred to as Center City, but within this area there are even more neighborhoods.

Society Hill

Start your visit with the neighborhood around Independence Hall. This is where the Liberty Bell rang out and where the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and the Bill of Rights were written and signed. Sit under a tree in the gardens. There has never been a time we have left on time. Generally we fly US Air and every flight there is some kind of problem. This last time the employees couldn't figure out how to lighten the load after switching and loading a smaller plane. We sat in the plane at the gate for almost 4 hrs!!! Most of the time the delays are related to so many planes coming in and out that we would sit on the runway waiting for our turn to take off usually 30 minutes to an hour. Would definitely recommend that... More

Most of the time the delays are related to so many planes coming in and out that we would sit on the runway waiting for our turn to take off usually 30 minutes to an hour. Would definitely recommend that if you must depart PHL and need to make a connection you give yourself at least a 2-3 hour layover and take the earliest flight out to be sure you could catch a later flight if you miss your first.

I took a trolley tour with the City of Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program with my room mate and it was incredible. We went on Murals and Meals Tour with Joe Sixpack as our celebrity guest and got a delicious meal form the Devil's Den in South Philly. I was able to hear some of the inspiring stories behind the 2800 murals that fill the city walls. It truly is an incredible program and a great highlight of Philadelphia. ... More
