Its true that Fiji is a \developing\ country and crime in the cities may happen from time to time but don't let that stop you from visiting this idylic island paradise. This past summer my wife and I spent a week diving at the outstanding Beqa Lagoon Resort several days pampering ourselves at the Shangri La Resort on Vitu Levu and on a four day cruise in the Yasawa Islands with Blue Lagoon Cruises. Except for the fact that our stay at Shangri La corresponded with the Australian school holiday (i.e. we were a bit surprised by the number of screaming youngsters) it was the trip of a lifetime and I'm looking forward to returning soon. We've described it to our friends as \...what Hawaii must have been like sixty years ago.\ Fiji = Friendly people in a beautiful tropical paradise.

My husband and I spend five weeks traveling in the South Pacific including Fiji New Zealand and Australia. It was the trip of a lifetime and the time we spent in Fiji was wonderful. I cannot say enough about the Fijian people. Their culture is fascinating and they love to share it with visitors. Don't miss the cava experience. Highly recommend a trip to an outlying island. We flew by helicpoter to an 8 acre island resort called Royal Davui. There is no place more beautiful on the planet! The people there became like our family. It is definitely high end but so worth the money!

The people of Fiji are very welcoming and it is just a beautiful place.
