First, I made a reservation the day before the trip as it was to a funeral for a close and dear relative. At the Dulles terminal, I had to buy a ticket as UAL would not accept my paper. Your eticket never arrived in the email. So I was out an additional $30.00. Upon checking in to the Williston ND Airport (code ISN) on 9 Nov, i was informed that Great Lakes Airlines had cancelled my reservation due to a data base miixup with the airline code, ( Great Lakes AL vs UAL). Fortunately, UAL allowed Great Lakes to issue me a boarding pass. I was informed that this happens frequently when Travelocity, Orbitz, or others make the reservations.
Conclusion: AOL Travel and the UAL(probably other airlines, too) need to debug their data transfers to prevent stranding a traveler or losing a ticket. Based on this experience, I would make a reservation directly with the airline to eliminate risk a lost e-ticket
