an international cityWhat I would say to potential visitors to Zurich is don't stop in Zurich and think that you have seen Switzerland. I have had many people tell me they have been to Switzerland and when I question them further they have only been to Zurich. It is a lovely city but it is an international city. If you really want to experience Switzerland you must leave Zurich and go into the countryside. Lucerne for example is much more typically Swiss. And that is only one example. If y... More

If you really want to experience Switzerland you must leave Zurich and go into the countryside. Lucerne for example is much more typically Swiss. And that is only one example. If you like cities Bern is very interesting and Geneva is lovely. As far as cities go I prefer Geneva to Zurich and Lucerne to either of them.

We were there about 15 years ago. I hope things have changed since then. At that time they were the most unfriendly haughty people I had ever connected with. And the prices were so high I constantly felt I was being ripped off. We got charged five extra dollars just for the cab driver removing our luggage from his taxi! I hope they have given women the vote on a local level by now too. Very neat and tidy forests though.... More
