The stylish Cape Malay Restaurant, recently upgraded to restaurant status, has a warm homely feel. The eatery is found within the beautiful Cellars-Hohenhort Hotel. Menus rotate on a five-day basis and always include vegetarian options and interesting specials. Sweet and spicey, authentic Cape Malay cuisine is served here. Start with taste bud teasers of miniature egg polla and sweetcorn fritters. Chef Martha Williams makes a winning butternut soup finished with nutmeg; sublime tomato bredie, bobotie and chicken curry. End with melktert, malva pudding or her lemon-scented koeksisters. The 300-strong wine list is very impressive and includes many top Cape wines and good imports.
