Overview
This turn of the century house, with a stunning view of the distant mountains, was designed by the genius, Sir Herbert Baker, in the days when mining magnates were rich and eccentric. The west wing was burned down within a decade of first being built; enough to make you believe the stories of paranormal activity at the house. It was rebuilt and is now part of Johannesburg's heritage. Although you'll no longer see the beautiful hostess, Jose Dale Lace, singing from the small ballroom balcony, you will hear young, talented musicians once a month. Soak up the décor in a dream of bygone days.
