Sovanna Phum, Phnom Penh

This cooperative dedicates itself to helping resurrect the Khmer arts including circus, music, acting and dance. Performances of the various art forms occur regularly on Saturday evenings at 6.30pm during the tourist season (October-March). Occasional performances take place during off-season (call for details). Sovanna Phum director, Mann Kosal, specializes in a traditional form of shadow puppetry called Sbek Touc which portrays the comical side of everyday life. Tickets to scheduled performances cost USD4 and private performances can be arranged from USD100 per hour. Handmade puppets are for sale. Performances are as advertised.
