The Fengtai Softball Field was originally constructed in the late 1980s for use in the Asian Games of 1990 but has been completely revamped for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics for use as a softball venue. The complex consists of two competition diamonds - a training diamond, and a back-up diamond, that cover 15,570 square meters (167,500 square feet). Like many new and renovated Olympic venues, the complex utilizes several environmentally friendly features, such as solar powered water heating.
