Isshin is a long-established chain of Japanese restaurants with branches in Wudaokou and Beijing Normal University in Haidian District, and the University of International Business and Economics in Chaoyang District. The restaurants are popular with Chinese and overseas students, and local residents for their affordable, fresh and tasty Japanese fare. The most popular dishes include Isshin’s signature sushi roll and pork tonkatsu bento, as well as the large but affordable tempura and sashimi plates. Isshin restaurants get particularly busy at lunchtimes because they offer generous discounts of up to 50% on many items on the menu. -Jennifer Pooley
