Long Tan Park, in southeast Beijing near the Temple of Heaven, is a wide area of lakes, bridges and greenery with traditional Chinese tea houses and restaurants scattered here and there. Its name means "dragon´s pool," and that´s why it has a big gallery in the shape of a dragon. You can also find dragons' faces carved in trees among the marvelous rock gardens. But what actually makes this place really unique is its bird market. Several traders exhibit different kinds of birds to the public, so whenever you go there you can hear them sing. It´s definitely a great place to bring a picnic and walk around. It is open from 6a to 8:30p, and there is a small entrance fee of around CNY2. -Marina Burana
