JZ Club, Shanghai

If you were to judge a book by its cover, you would never go into the JZ club. Ugly exterior aside, inside is an intimate space where the performers and the audience get up close and personal. A basic décor – dark wood, dim lights with touches of red and some lounges on the mezzanine floor, this club is all about the music. Regular acts, such as the ever popular Coco on Sundays, featured throughout the week mixed in with special performers. This place is so serious about jazz that they have even opened a jazz school for aspiring artists and enthusiasts. -Elyse Singleton
