Created upon the site of an old rubber factory, the very sleek Ke Center for the Contemporary Arts, has already made its mark on Shanghai's cultural scene. Not just art installations and exhibitions, the center strives to fuse performing acts into its repertoire by hosting drama, dance, opera and theater. Nestled in over 1,200 square meters of sprawling area, the Ke Store sells books and audio visual material covering all art forms. Ke Fresh is the bohemian cafe that serves up nutritious fad food to struggling and established artists, directors and theater people. Check the website for upcoming events.
