Also recognized as the Ashab Mosque, it stands as the lone mosque in Quanzhou and one of the only such structures in the Fujian province. Time and neglect have faded the structure's glory, but it still stands as a prominent reminder to the area's diverse past. A decently maintained exhibition hall features photos and English translations of the mosque's history (built 1009) and of Islam's once prominent influence in the area. Quanzhou is just about a 40-minute drive up the coast from Xiamen.
