Habibi Café, Hong Kong

The Habibi Café is the offshoot of the popular, well-established Habibi Egyptian restaurant that has been a constant feature on Hong Kong’s dining scene for over ten years now. The Habibi Café offers a more casual ambiance than its older sibling and serves a menu that features both cold and hot mezze like Babaganoush (roasted eggplant with tahini), hummus (pureed chickpea dip with tahini), Bossara (a broad bean and onion dip) and Kofta Al Gabal (lamb meatballs). These appetizers are quite substantial and can actually substitute for a meal, but if you would rather have an entrée as well, then the menu at Habibi Café also has mains like Egyptian Mussaka and Shawarma Laham-Dani (a shaved lamb wrap) on offer. -Anjeeta Nayar
