Overview

Constructed around 1847 and originally located in the Fuk Chuen Village, the Hung Shing Temple was relocated in 1928 and now sits in Tai Kok Tsui. The temple originally overlooked the sea, where Hung Shing was believed to have rescued distressed sailors and fishermen. The bronze bell within the temple dates from 1887. The temple is the center point to the month-long Tai Kok Tsui Temple Fair during the second month of the Lunar calendar, when Hung Shing is celebrated with traditional performances, bright costumes, music, and food. Not to be missed is the Luminous Night Dragon Dance with its 500 foot dragon.
