Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre, Hong Kong

The 110,000 square feet of the former Shek Kip Mei Factory campus, the Centre's vision includes housing the workshops of 150 local artists, community art space, performance space including a black box theater, galleries, education space and a cafe. The Jockey Club played a big part in the 2009 Hong Kong Arts Festival as a model for reinterpretting government subsidized public housing and workshops from the mid-20th Century into culturally relevant and useful spaces in the 21st Century. There is always something going on at JCCAC, whether it is a workshop for school children, a play, arts festival or open studio tour.
