Overview
Silvermine Bay, also known as Mui Woi, is a long stretch of golden sand dotted with imposing lifeguard towers on the south coast of Lantau Island. It can be reached by ferry from Hong Kong Island or by bus, down a winding road from the Tian Tan Buddha (Giant Buddha) LINK making it a great spot for a paddle before heading back to the city. It has a handful of hotels for an overnight stay, as well as a row of beachside restaurants and cafes. The popular barbecue spots are often crowded with groups of well-behaved local teenagers, who seem to spend more time giggling, flirting and taking pictures of each other than actually barbecuing. - Jen Wight
