Overview
Emperor Feroz Shah Tuglaq erected the Ashoka Pillar in 1365. It was broken into five pieces in an explosion around 1713. The pieces were given to the Asiatic Society of Bengal and the piece with the inscription was sent to Calcutta. It was returned to Delhi and the whole column re-erected on its present platform in 1867. It is one of the original columns of emperor Ashoka but it is not in as good condition as the one in Feroz Shah Kotla.
