Dahana is a welcome sight for Japanese food lovers weary of pretentious modern designer décor, and it provides an elegant and romantic setting for an evening meal. It mixes the very best of Japanese style and Balinese traditional architecture, which complements the wonderful rice field views overlooking rural Kerobokan. The restaurant is also located just close enough to the seafront to enjoy cool breezes. The menu is packed full of imagination, highlighting sumptuous seafood sets of sashimi and temaki plus an extensive a la carte section. Choose from eel, tuna and prawn with crisp udon noodles or construct your own okonomiyaki (a traditional Japanese vegetable pancake). For something a little more familiar there is a choice of grilled steaks and pasta. Dahana offers pretty good value with efficient service along with highly inventive presentation. -Ray Montgomery
