Kubuku, Bali

Located midway along busy Poppies Street, Kubuku bar is a low-key yet popular nighttime haunt for drinkers and has been a mainstay in Kuta for over a decade. It is a surprisingly large, open-fronted venue with a vast dining area replete with a centerpeice fountain and rich red table furnishings. It even has a large corner dancefloor for when things really heat up. The main activity is focused around its large circular bar which shows live sports action, and every drinker receives a comlimentary shot of frozen vodka. Mexican and Thai favorites are offered on a varied menu that also includes Balinese duck, fresh seafood, and the usual selection of pastas and burgers. Kubuku opens for early morning breakfast until 1a every night. - Ray Montgomery
