Ajihara, Jakarta

Ajihara is an authentic Japanese restaurant specializing in handmade noodles, catering not only to the Japanese expats but also to Indonesians and Westerners living in Jakarta. Among the noodles on offer are Sanukiudon, a traditional noodle made from white flour with a high gluten content, and Teuchi Soba, a highly revered Japanese noodle made from buckwheat (which reputedly has beneficial medical properties). Besides noodles, there are a host of other classic Japanese items on the extensive menu, including perennial Japanese favorites such as Sushi and Sashimi. Sake is unsurprisingly one of the most popular drinks here, and if you are with friends you can continue your drinking at the bar. Just watch how much you drink!
