Hooi (De), Jakarta

You may be far from home, but you are never that far from an English-style pub in Jakarta. So if hankerings for Old Blighty get the better of you, simply head down south to Pondok Indah where you will find the charms of this small and cozy bar irresistible. Decorated in typical dark hues and with plenty of wood, De Hooi is a comfortable refuge from the tropical heat outside. Unlike many bars in Jakarta, the music is kept down to reasonably low levels, making it so much easier to have a good old chin wag with the other customers. If you get hungry, there is a decent selection of bar meals from which to choose. As for beer-drinkers, make the most of the lengthy "happy hour" which lasts until 8pm. Cheers!
