During the daytime people come for quality restaurants, but make sure to visit Jalan Menteng at nighttime, where a stroll in the street side offers some of Jakarta's finest Indonesian hawker food. Hit lists include nasi goreng (fried rice), nasi gila (rice with stir fried sausage and scrambled egg), to siomay (fish cake in peanut sauce) to be served with freshly squeezed juices. Shell out a few for street singers, youngsters who go singing in the street from table to table for some money.
