The street in the South part of Jakarta is aggressively becoming a culinary melting pot. Legendary Mandala restaurant (affordable home-cooked Chinese food) and Sate Cikajang (for its lamb satays) are getting new neighbors, Helen's Fine Foods and Patisserie, casual Asian food in Eaton (order the signature spring roll), Bumbu Desa for its local Sundanese food, to Sekai Sushi with its much-loved all you can eat program at IDR50,000 (USD5). Besides restaurants, small supermarkets, beauty salons (Lutuye, where youngsters crop their hair) and spas are giving the street more life. Not as hectic as the Kemang area, but clearly as exciting.
