Kopitiam Oey, Jakarta

Kopitiam Oey is located on a famous street in Central Jakarta famed for its low-priced hawker food. But things can get hectic and it can be nice to get away from the crowds and traffic. In this case, this wonderful little coffee shop is just the ticket. Inside, the Chinese style décor and old wooden seats and tables create a really tranquil and comfortable ambience. All sorts of coffee are on the menu, including the wonderful Wiener Melange, a coffee topped with vanilla ice cream. If you like tea, try the original Javanese pot tea or perhaps the Moroccan mint tea. And if you’re hungry, choose from a range of tasty traditional dishes, including Lontong Tjap Gomeh - rice cakes served with a chicken broth. Prices here are surprisingly affordable.
