Overview

Aratsu Bridge is a 345-meter suspension bridge supporting the city freeway over the coastal part of Hakata Bay. The view it provides the city if you are traveling west is definitely worth seeing on a good day. To the left side, you can see the city spreading out toward the southern mountains. On your right side, you can look out across the bay, dotted with islands and boats. The view is equally beautiful at night. If you do not have a car, take a Nishitetsu bus that uses the city expressway (toshi-kosoku). In between Matsuya Ladies and Futata department stores in Tenjin, there is a bus stop on the Futata side. Buses that are traveling to Fukuoka Tower or Noko-tosenjo are appropriate, providing they use the toshi-kosoku. Ask if you need help; someone will put you on the right bus.
