Overview
This bar is named after the 1.5-meter ocean fish "coelacanth." Ever heard of it? Nope? Well most Japanese have. First of all, there is a song by the popular band Mr. Children whose title is the same. There was also a TV documentary about Japanese scientists who went to Madagascar to catch these fish and study them (they were unsuccessful). And most kids learn about them in biology class. With this is mind, it is easy to see why someone would name their bar after this fish. What is perhaps more interesting to the visitor, however, is the bar itself, which tries to simulate the feeling of being on the bottom of the ocean floor. Dark? You bet.
