Cafe Gallery David, Kyoto

Cafe/Gallery David located just opposite the Museum of Kyoto on Sanjo is an exquisite, elegant and spacious shrine to the memory of long-term Kyoto resident and art-collector David Kidd, established by his partner. The large space is divided into a gallery as you enter with the cafe further to the rear. Cafe/Gallery David hosts frequent exhibitions and occasional live musical performances. Some of the exhibits such as fine (and very expensive) jewelry pieces are for sale. The decor is extremely pleasing with decorous displays of flower-arranging and crystal and stone arrangements. The menu includes various coffees and a selection of specialty teas.
